When it comes to lip plumping products, I have tried everything. Or at least, all of the promising plumping lip products I could get my hands on. From the gloss that tingles to the overnight cream or to the natural bizarre home remedies…I’ve dabbled in it all.
After trying almost every product in pursuit of more luscious looking lips, I still continuously felt unsatisfied with the results. I didn’t find it necessarily enjoyable to sit through my day with constant stinging bright red lips.
Well, do these products AT LEAST deliver what they promise?
Personally, yes they do deliver what they promise…BUT for me, they only provided a short-lived instant gratification. Everyone is different, though. Some see slight differences while others are ecstatic about a glorious product that they swear by.
So what does this have to do with facial paralysis?
In the past, I was always bothered by the unevenness in my lips especially when I would smile. Therefore, I started exploring lip product options. I applied the lip plumping products to the right side of my lips (unaffected side), and after letting the product do its business, I could see a little difference. The unique mix of ingredients instantly yet slightly plumped that area of my lips demonstrating a more symmetrical overall look. ***Instagram post for old before & after photo.
The lip products I use are posted on this blog at the bottom of the page. Note that all products I post on my blog are ONLY products I truly use and love. I will not and do not promote unfamiliar products on this site.
When it comes to lip augmentation, I will put it out there: I got my lips done. After a few months of deliberation, I chose to have them done for the first time this past fall. It is not something I like to share with the entire world, but it is something that I have chosen to do due to the amazing results post injections.
As you can see in the photo, my lips appear fuller in the “after” photo. (Sorry I do not have the same makeup look in the before photo).
The only con that I have encountered after having my lips done is the bruising, but that disappeared within a few days.
If this is something you consider doing, consult your doctor first especially if you have facial paralysis. Please remember that this is a medical procedure so don’t let your average gas station attendant administer Restylane into your lips. It will end up costing you more in the long run!
