I will admit it: I’m in my 20s, yet I’ve already started using preventative skincare products, especially anti-aging face masks. After creating this blog, my passion for understanding the relationship amongst skincare and facial paralysis has grown drastically over the last six months. In fact, this fall, I’m planning on starting school to receive my esthetician license!

Recently, I’ve learned that with age and facial paralysis, the paralyzed side of the face will remain unchanged while the unaffected side ages naturally. Thankfully, there are methods besides botox and facial reconstructive surgery to help maintain as much symmetry amongst your face as you age. Preventative care like anti-aging masks can be the most effective in properly treating your face especially the unaffected side; while also slowing down the natural aging process. If this is the case, why not take care of your skin? I’ve discovered that the more I take care of my skin the better I feel about myself.

This advice doesn’t mean you HAVE to run out immediately and purchase an expensive mask; I just wanted to share some honest advice on the benefits of using them. Keep in mind that if you do decide to invest in purchasing an anti-aging face mask, this doesn’t mean that you won’t expect ANY affects of more asymmetry as you age. Aging is inevitable, yet how well we feel about ourselves is a choice we decide to make.

And maybe this is just an opinion that is subjective, but I’ve found that I feel much better about myself when I take the time to take care of my skin!

Because of my desire to take proper care of my skin, I’ve researched, invested and tested many masks to share the ones that I highly recommend.

BWP Recommended Anti-Aging Face Masks

[Solutions for dark spots, uneven skin tone, loss of firmness, uneven texture, dryness, reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, etc.]

Youth To The People Age Prevention Superfood Mask   Even your surface skin needs superfoods too. This is the healthiest mask I’ve used thus far and my skin feels much plumper after application.

Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask Hydration  – In a world reasonably priced sheet masks, this one is above others I’ve used. This made my skin feel very moisturized and I liked that there was a lot of the cream left over in the packaging– great to place the leftover on your neck!

TATCHA Violet C Radiance Mask  After hearing such great reviews on Tatcha skincare products, I felt that I wanted to invest in a beneficial mask. Radiance Mask gave me a healthy glow and helped calm my melasma that occurs from sun exposure.

Mario Badescu ‘Super Collagen’ Mask   I’ve always been a huge lover of this skincare company, so I started using this mask a few months ago. Helps with breakouts and reduces any redness on my face.

Tip: For cream masks, once or twice a week, apply the mask to only the unaffected side! Since this side of your face is doing more work than the paralyzed side, taking extra care of it goes a long way!

I hope this post is beneficial for you as I’ll continue sharing products that I’m passionate about. Have a great weekend and stay tuned for upcoming posts! I’m going to post more frequently in the near future 🙂 Xo

Hey Carson,

So I had BP for three months and I’ve been very blessed to regain movement in all of my muscles. Some of them hardly move, but they do move. I’ve worked with a therapist for a few months now doing facial exercises. What has anyone discovered about aging post paralysis? Does that side not age only if it’s permanent paralysis or would temporary paralysis be included as well?

Hi Hannah, thank you for your comment and questions. I believe the more you can get your facial muscles to move and meet with your physical therapist, the less you’ll have to deal with asymmetry that may increase with age. I don’t have medical expertise, but I think if it’s only temporary for a specified amount of time, you should be in a better position rather than it being permanent. Unfortunately, aging is inevitable at some point though and everyone ages at their own pace while genes play a significant factor in it! It sounds like you are on the right track and I firmly believe that just protecting your skin and investing the right products truly helps in the long run! <3
